Northwest and After Dark

Pole Championships

September 26th-27th, 2026

We will begin training our our official competition team for the Pole Sport Organization Northwest Championships starting July 1st.

Below is a brief breakdown of our typical training schedule:

June:

Brainstorm Phase - This is your chance to build a bare bones idea for your performance piece on paper. Think of it like a sketch or a rough draft. Coach John, as well as your other instructors with comp experience are great resources for this phase.

July:

Building Phase - For the next twelve weeks, you will be separated into your own comp prep classes. These classes are priced separately from the rest of the studio offerings and sold as a package. The package is a monthly $100 due in July, August, and September. It includes all Open Poles and Comp Prep sessions. Comp prep times will be decided on group availability. Comp prep is a team training and rehearsal that allows for coach feedback. Private lessons are available on request.

August:

Stamina Phase - We will continue increasing your stamina and the cleanliness of your routine, and begin closing sessions out with individual run-throughs.

September:

Cleaning Phase - We will focus strictly on fine-tuning and cleaning your routine. We will host a dress rehearsal two weeks prior to the comp for you to be able to show your friends and family who will not be traveling with you, as well as to get all the stage-wiggles out and to fix any costume or prop issues.

September 26th-27th:

Competition time!! It’s usually a good idea to plan to arrive on Thursday to get a full nights sleep. We typically rent out a local studio on Friday for a final run through before the competition weekend. You are responsible for your own hotel, meals, and transportation.

There are a few training commitments and financial costs to consider before registering for competition. Please read the below list carefully!

What skill level do I need before competing?

  • You can compete at any skill level! We’ll assess what level and category will be appropriate for your current skills and personal goals during your building phase.

  • You will need at least 12 moves that you love and want to show off. This can be as simple as a climb, pole sit, and fan kick. This number may change during the building phase.

  • You will need to be familiar with both static and spin and comfortable climbing on both (for trick categories).

Time Commitments:

  • You will need to be in the studio at least two times a week for 12 weeks (July through September). We typically recommend three times a week if you’re able to swing it, and no more than four with two planned rest days. It’s okay if you have travel plans during that time, but if you are planning to be gone for more than two weeks you may want to wait, or change your goals for your piece. The goal is to minimize overall stress!

  • You will need to be able to attend the dress rehearsal/showcase on Sept. 19th.

Financial Commitments

  • Registration - $155 depending on level.

  • Video and pictures (You will want these!) - $150

  • Costume - this can be as extravagant as a custom costume, or as minimal as a Cleo set.

  • Travel - Plane ticket, hotel, meals (~$600)

  • Comp training - $100 a month, July through September. This includes open access to Comp Prep sessions and Open Poles, as well as a Competition Training book. Comp Prep sessions are scheduled according to group availability and you will need to attend one a week.

  • Private lesson costs vary by instructor

Total approx costs over four months: $1200
